Living in Evergreen

What it's like to live in Evergreen

Evergreen is an unincorporated mountain community in the foothills west of Denver, first settled in 1859 and named for the evergreen trees around it. Jefferson County handles roads and zoning, and the Evergreen Metropolitan District runs the core water and sewer system.

Evergreen Lake sits at the center of town. It was made by damming Bear Creek in 1927, and today it is a skating rink in winter and a boating lake in summer. Downtown has local shops and restaurants, and the area around town is full of Denver Mountain Parks and Jeffco Open Space land.

Evergreen suits buyers who want a settled mountain town with great trail access and an easy link to I-70. Downtown is about nine miles from the interstate on Evergreen Parkway, which helps for both Denver commutes and ski weekends.
