Living in Dillon
What it's like to live in Dillon
Dillon is a small town on the shore of Dillon Reservoir. The original town was told to move in 1956 because the new dam would flood it, and today's townsite sits about a mile north and roughly 160 feet higher. The Dillon Marina bills itself as the world's highest deep-water marina, and the Continental Divide is about 10 miles east. Summer centers on the lake and the amphitheater.
Homes are mostly condos and townhomes near the lake and the town core, with single-family homes nearby in Silverthorne and the hills around the lake. The county assessor's review of sales from July 2022 to June 2024 put the single-family median for Dillon and Silverthorne at about $1.7 million, as reported by Summit Daily. Condos are the usual entry point here, and most come with HOA dues.
Dillon requires a short-term rental license for stays under 30 days, at $700 a year, and limits guests to two per bedroom plus two more. Licenses don't transfer and must be renewed each year. I live on the Front Range, so for Dillon I team up with a local agent I trust and stay with you through the whole move.
